Unit 2 Appointment

Making Appointments
It means to arrange a time and a place with people in advance for a specified activity.

  • It is polite to make an appointment ahead of time
  • If you make it, keep it! If you need to cancel, give as much notice as possible.
  • Be clear about the WHERE, WHAT and WHEN aspects of the appointment when scheduling with the other party.
  • Check that the other party understands the above.
  • Be punctual. It is basic manners. Notify if you potentially will be late.
  • If you are invited to a party at someone's house, it is polite to be late. This is to give the guest enough time to be fully prepared and to avoid being the awkward situation of being the first one to arrive.
  • A white lie is a polite way to decline an invitation without directly hurting the other party's feelings
