Over 230,000 foreign students in China Empty Over 230,000 foreign students in China

In 2009, China received 238,184 international students from 190 countries and regions

    Top 13 sending countries are:
  1. Republic of Korea (64,232),
  2. the United States (18,650),
  3. Japan (15,409),
  4. Vietnam (12,247),
  5. Thailand (11,379),
  6. Russia (10,596),
  7. India (8,468),
  8. Indonesia (7,926),
  9. Kazakhstan (6,497),
  10. Pakistan (5,738),
  11. Mongolia (5,684),
  12. France (5,422) and
  13. Germany (4,239).


For breakdowns by type of student, the number of academic degree students is 93,450 (including undergraduates 74,472, master degree students 14,227, doctoral degree students 4,751), comprising 39.23% of the total (up 16.81% over the previous year), and increasing more rapidly than the total enrollments. Other types of international students increased to 144,734, comprising 60.77% of the total.

After the Planning of Study Abroad in China is launched, the central and regional government and HEIs will promote the development of international education with a more active and open attitude, and lay more emphasis on stadardized management and quality education, aiming at 500,000 international student enrollments in 2020, and building China into Asia’s top destination country for international students.

Looks like a good time to be a language teacher in China. The Chinese economy's advancement will mean their will be need for Chinese language skills for international workers. Perhaps teaching Chinese is a good option, also? Imagine 500,000 foreign students in China...someone has to teach them!

Maybe it means Chinese become an important language all around the world.
And i hope i can Inheritance the culture of chinese some day.

knowing that , i think i will reconsider my future job, it seem that to be a teacher to teach the forginers is not bad~

Now, chinese is a language which by largest population, but it is not so widely used as English. But a growing number of foreign is learining it means it is becoming more and more important. I am really proud of it. tongue
