Why did you choose your English name?

As English is the offical language of Australia, our parents decide our names for us.

So I had no choice in the matter. I think my mum just liked the name Alex. (not Alexander, just Alex).

The story of my brother's name is a bit more colourful. My brothers name was supposed to Daniel.

It just so happened that whilst my mum was pregnant, the doctor told her she was going to have a boy. After a lot of thought, it was decided she would call her new son Daniel. Upon hearing this, my aunt who wasnt pregnant at the time decided she loved the name Daniel as well and pleaded with my mum to not use that name. I dont think my mum really cared if both her son and her brother's son had the same first name as my aunty and uncle had a different family name to my mum and dad. I am not sure what significance that name had to my aunt, but her pleading worked and my mum chose a different name for my brother.

As luck would have it, my aunty got pregnant and Daniel was born the year after my brother.

Knowing my mum well, I could imagine her agreeing not to use the name so that my aunty would stop annoying her.

I've changed my English for three time.
At the age of 10, I started to learn English and I named myself "Joan", which is a girl from my primary English textbooks. But I changed it into "Angel" when I progressed to junior middle school, but unfortunately, I happened to share the same name with another girl at my class, who was the most beautiful girl at my class ... And for another, "Angel Lee" is indeed too gentle and not cool enough.
Finally, I started to use "Nicky" as my English name in 2004, for one thing, Nicole Kidman is my mum's idol and for another, to in memory of Nicky Butt, because he left the United in 2004.

my name is mani ~because my grandma made my chinese name 曼莉which sounds like mani~so i get it,haha~

i like my name because it's very special, just like my chinese one, haha. my first english name is joey and the second is zoe. both of them are chosen by my primary english teachers.

The English teacher in my primary school gave me this English name. When I finally found out the meaning of it and unsutability for my personality, it was years later. I don't bother to change it. As I like contrary thing, i think it is interesting to have a name so different with my real personality. When I told my mom that I want to change my name into Devil, my mom preffered Grace. So that's it!
As I do not know the rules in English name, so I want somebody to tell me about it.

As i know, Daniel is also the english name of a Hongkong male star, Wuyanzu.

My first english name was Melody which means terrific rhythm, so I like both its meaning and sound. But I think it a little too long. Finally, I chose Cherry bacause it's easy to be remembered.

You are an easy to be remembered person!

My English name is Kelvin. To be honest, I don't know what it means, not even now.
I remember that I had this English name when I was in Junior Two, 2004. During that period of time, I attended a Cambridge English course and the foreign teacher there gave me this name. The Canadian old gentleman called Bob is very kind and said he missed his sons so much when he was in China. He named me Kelvin(because I didn't have an English the moment I joined the class), adding that whenever he called me, he felt as if he was calling his second son. Haha~~That's very interesting!
And after that, I never change my English because I don't know which one is suitable and most classmates around me have already called me Kelvin for quite a long time.

it' sounds my last name ...and i think it is special..

my first name is Sara,my first English teacher named me.I don't like it and i changed to Salina just because i like the pronounciation.
Then a few years later i suddenly realized that my name is sound like eating in Cantonese, althought it is not a name actually.
i like people calling me Eating,haha~i told them when you are eating, think of me! If they did, they will think of me at least 3 times a day
so, call me Eating!

Actually, my name and my birthday was wrong in my identification... That's terrible! But in china it is so troublesome to chang back my name and my birthday. So I have to bring the "wrong" identification. It seems that it was not mine! Oh my god!
